Gabi’s senior session was one of those magical afternoons that just feels like a memory while you're living it. Her family, who are members of the beautiful Sea Island Resort, wanted to capture her senior portraits in a location that’s not only visually stunning but also deeply meaningful to them. We planned our session around the golden hour, that sweet spot of sunlight that sprinkles that Golden Isles magic of golden warmth to everything it touches. And though we started a little earlier than planned, the light did not disappoint. It wrapped around Gabi and brought out her natural, glowing, sweet, presence!
Senior Portrait Locations at The Cloister Resort
We began our photo journey near the Sea Island Spa, letting the textures and landscaping inspire us as we moved through the property. From there, we made our way down to the Cloister itself. One of our favorite stops was the sunroom (or Atrium) — those tall, arched glass windows poured in soft light, giving us a dreamy setting that felt both elegant and peaceful.
The beauty of working in a place like Sea Island’s Cloister Resort is that it’s full of hidden gems — little pathways, arches, and corners that feel like your own private escape. We found several of those, and Gabi brought them to life with her quiet confidence.
Incorporating Meaningful Senior Session Details
What made this session especially personal was the care put into the details. Gabi is grounded in her faith, so we made sure to include her Bible — not just for pretty prop in her photos, but to reflect a deep and lasting part of her story. She volunteers regularly at her church and gives back to her community, even as she balances school and work.
Speaking of work — Gabi also works at a frozen yogurt shop on the island (and has a sweet tooth to match!), so we ended our session at the Sea Island candy shop with a fun and colorful finale. It was the perfect lighthearted ending to a session full of warmth, beauty, and intentional moments.
Senior Year, Family Sessions, and What’s Next
As a rising senior, Gabi hasn’t officially announced where she’ll be heading next — so we’re planning a “round two” portrait session in the fall or early winter to mark her final decisions and include her family. Many families love to add a family photo session during senior year — it’s a symbolic way to honor the closing of one chapter and the start of another.
And I can’t wait for that next chapter with Gabi and her family. From start to finish, this session was a beautiful reminder of what makes senior photography in the Golden Isles so special — it’s about more than just pictures. It’s about legacy, light, and capturing the heart of a moment before it passes.
