Love that Builds and Grows

Long Before the Big Day

I met Simone + Lyford at a family session that Simone's sister had gifted her. Such a sweet and growing family, full of laughter, their three year old had daddy wrapped around her finger. It was an instant match, Simone and Lyford asked me if I could photograph their upcoming wedding that upcoming October. I tried not to jump up and down and scream too loudly, it was my first solo wedding, after doing multiple second shootings and many many family sessions. I was super excited for their big day and truly honored they trusted me to capture their day.

The Big Day

I met the couple at the Squalicum Boathouse, on the Port of Bellingham, WA early in the morning. Simone and Lyford opted for just one bridesmaid and groomsman, plus their daughter and baby son as flower girl and ring bearer. Simone's dream was to wear her mother's dress on her special day and she the alterations herself as she's a seamstress. The love Simone's parents share symbolically passing to Simone and Lyford could be felt, it was palpable.

Once suits and dresses were on, with the help of their attendants, it was time for the first look and family portraits. We had a blast tricking Lyford, having his sweet little daughter give him a flower first before Simone made her debut. Family photos was quick and so much fun with this close-knit group, before we knew it, it was time to head to the church!

The Ceremony

There was no more beautiful place that Saturday morning, than Assumption Catholic Church in Bellingham, WA. I took some interior and exterior shots because it is a breathtaking church. Once the ceremony started, it was a traditional Catholic wedding, leaving me quite a bit of time to take in the entire scene and look for details and moments to capture.

Let's Boogie!

Simone + Lyford selected the waterfront park for the reception because the location is extremely family friendly. They themselves are parents, and many of their friends and family have young children as well. The Boathouse is located right by a wonderful playground, which made for endless entertainment. They had a great day, and everyone danced until the sun was setting!

Portraits + Details

As any photographer will tell you, give yourself plenty of time for portraits. We had enough time before the ceremony to shoot in the church but once we hit the reception, we had only about ten minutes of time with just the couple before the sun sank over the smokey sky. Talk about nerves! But we got what we need, plus had Simone and Lyford back to the reception to dance the evening away while I made my exit.

Note to Simone + Lyford: Thank you for allowing me the privilege of capturing your wedding. You're an inspirational couple, I felt beyond honored to have captured your family and this moment for you. Wishing you many blessings, in all that life has in store for you!

Love,

Lindy
